OML Day 29 – Game Over:  Dying to Live

To be wise is to approach life with an end in mind.  This helps us to live with more intention and make every moment count.  Do you make every day count?  Not to live foolishly as if every day is a chance to goof off and party and be wreckless.  The end of our life on earth should be our focus to live the moments we have left with a positive influence–one that will get us our ticket into Heaven and one that will leave a lasting impact on this earth once we leave it.

Our ticket into heaven is not only our belief in Jesus and what he did for us.  It’s taking action every day the way Jesus wants us to with our lives, offering a helping hand for the benefit of others.   This means touching the lives of others, as many as we can, or even just one.  If you’ve made a positive difference in the life of one person, you have lived with purpose.  It’s not over till it’s over and you still have time to do more.  We should want to help as many people as we can.

What you do today can change someone’s life forever.  Everything we do causes ripples.  We cause change in ourselves and others, just as they cause change in us.  Do you want to have good ripples or harsh ones?  Think about it.  What you do today will go down in history forever.  Maybe not in the books that people will read, but in the books of our minds (yours and theirs), forever etched in the psyche of whomever we spoke to or helped or hurt.

Words and actions matter, even if you think they don’t, even if no one sees or hears what you do and say.  There will always be two that see and hear all you do.  Your self is affected.  God is affected.  You cannot undo any word nor action you have put out there.  If negative, you can ask forgiveness, try to make it up and show you want to make a positive difference.  You can also forgive the other person who wronged you and allow them to try to make amends.  If positive, then you improve your life and theirs with every positive word and action you offer and there are rewards.

To live in the light of positivity.  Can you imagine how drastically different our lives would be if we lived this way every day of the rest of our lives?  To wake up each morning with the intention to do good for others, for every person we come in contact with.  Wow, we’d be different people wouldn’t we?  We would be making a difference every day.  We would be making someone else’s life better and in turn, making our own life better.  The last time you helped someone selflessly without any reward for yourself, how did it make you feel?  When you help others, you also help yourself.

God sees everything and with every positive motion you choose to make in your life is marked by God and earns you a higher position in Heaven, a more important job in Heaven, meaning your eternal home and rewards Upstairs can be even more awesome and spectacular and beautiful than they are at this moment.

What you do now–today–really does matter.  How you choose to live your life today, the words you say not only to others but to yourself, the actions you take for others as well as yourself–it all matters.

Stop torturing yourself and breaking yourself down, kicking yourself for who you were and who you are at this moment.  I’ve been doing this.  I’ve always been great at self-sabotage, which is why I’ve chosen the next book that we’ll begin in the next couple of days.  We can each make the decision to change at this very moment while you are reading this post.  You can decide what kind of person you want to be.  You can decide to love yourself because no matter how cold and heartless and selfish you think you are, no one is unworthy of love.  Everyone needs to be loved and cared for.

It’s never too late to reach out to someone else.  Decide for yourself what kind of life you want.  It doesn’t matter how you’ve been raised or what experiences have transpired in your life that made you who you are today.  Well, I mean, it matters, but those experiences have formed who you are.  You are a product of your past, but you also have the free will to decide who you are and what you are and what you do with this life.  You can change with one tiny baby step.  Help someone.  No matter how small–it matters.  Holding open a door for a stranger.  Saying hello with a smile to a stranger.  One small act of kindness can change someone forever and possibly even save their life.  Do you remember a time where just a few words made all the difference in how you felt?  Good or bad.

Make the choice to create a positive impact.  Make the choice to leave a positive legacy that lasts.  When you are gone, what do you wish to leave behind for others?  Trinkets and treasures do not last.  Those things do not matter.  The difference you choose to make in your own life and in the lives of everyone you come into contact with–those are the true treasures of this life.  Those are the treasures we leave behind and remind people of who we were and it’s those treasures that will be carried on and passed down to future generations.  You and I–we plant seeds and it’s up to each one of us what seeds we plant, if they can possibly grow and bloom into beauty, or not.  You matter.  And you don’t have as long as you think to make that difference.  This life on earth is but an hour equal to a thousand years in Heaven.  This life is a blink of an eye compared to eternity up there.  So, make the most of what you have now and what you do with it.  Share your life and all you have with people who need you.  We all need you.  You really do have what it takes to change the world…one person at a time.  And that person you affect changes someone else and it goes on forever.  Pay it forward so that it can be passed on to others.

Try to make the time to answer the 3 lessons at the end of the chapter under Make It Last for Life.  It might make all the difference in how you see your life today and envision the future here and in heaven.  Love y’all!  *hug*
